One of Uganda’s oldest parks was established in 1962, having an area of 1442km2, with an altitude of 917m and 2750m, with a magnificent savannah landscape. Kidepo Valley National Park borders South Sudan to the northwest and Kenya just 5 km to the east. Lying in Karamoja subregion in the North-eastern part of Uganda, near Karenga in Kaabong district.
With a splendid landscape of rugged hills and vast savannah vegetation with distinctive wildlife, the Narus valley among other interesting places, make Kidepo a must visit park when one comes to Uganda. The annual temperatures in this semi-arid region are 290C when low and 400C when high.
There is a wild range of wild life that includes 77 species of mammals, 476 bird species. These include the big game that includes buffaloes, elephants, Burchell’s zebras, Rothschild’s giraffes, over 50 of them.
